MIMIX Essentials

Location: A Vision Solutions Training Center or public training venue

Length: Four Days

Learn the essentials of operating and administering MIMIX Availability V8.0. After completing the class the student will have an understanding of logical replication and how it relates to the functions of the MIMIX jobs. They will learn how to install updates to the MIMIX product. They will gain basic MIMIX configuration skills. The student’s hands on experience will include common tasks and concepts that are helpful in the day to day operations of MIMIX which will focus on replication status and day-to-day audits: customizing Vision Solutions Portal Server (VSP), setting up lights-out-monitoring, correcting replication problems using VSP, starting and ending journaling, ability to view status and determine if the product is performing at the expected level, common problem identification and resolution for issues found outside of auditing, and using the various product help options. The person will be introduced to the use of MIMIX policies in their MIMIX environment, as well as the use of procedures and steps to operate MIMIX. Additionally, students will gain an understanding of the basic switch process and key terminology.

MIMIX Advanced

Length: Four Days

: Learn advanced MIMIX skills necessary to configure and manage more complex environments. Gain hands on skills to identify how to modify configuration to better optimize MIMIX. Learn how to configure MIMIX for multi node environments as well as the use of the MIMIX Intra installation. The student will learn how to troubleshoot replication issues and gain knowledge on how to use various tools and options to correct the issues. Will gain hands on experience in planning and performing a planned switch, troubleshooting a failed switch, and learn how to use Procedures and Steps to automate the switching process.

iOptimize v7.1 Power

Location: Online

This online, instructor-led course is focused on Vision iOptimize V7.1, an easy-to-use Advanced System Management Tool that helps customers make the most of their IBM Power Systems servers on IBM i. iOptimize V7.1 provides significant additional features not included in IBM i or IBM Systems Director<suptm<>. iOptimize v7.1 automatically gathers information, analyzes and makes automatic recommendations in an easy-to-use format for technical and management staff.</suptm<>

iTERA V6.1 Operations

Location: A Vision Solutions Training Center or public training venue

Length: Three Days

After completing this class, the student will have a solid understanding basic HA principals. Additionally they will have a working knowledge of iTERA that will be beneficial to an individual responsible for the day-to-day operations of iTERA. They are also provided with an overview of the iTERA installation environment; e.g., installation libraries and objects and iTERA subsystems and associated jobs. Other topics of discussion include: the basics of configuration, monitoring of an iTERA environment, understanding the importance of audits and the daily, weekly and monthly tasks associated with the audits to ensure replication accuracy, and finally, learn how to configure and start journaling with iTERA.

iTERA V6.1 Administration

This instructor-led classroom-based course will provide you with an understanding of how to perform daily, weekly, and monthly administration tasks for iTERA Availability. You’ll gain a working knowledge of iTERA that would be beneficial to an individual responsible for the initial and on-going configuration and administration of the solution

Class Prerequisite: One year of experience on an IBM Power Systems server on IBM i is recommended.

Double-Take Share Administration

Location: A Vision Solutions Training Center or public training venue

Length: Three Days

Classroom instruction on the administration of Vision Double-Take Share covers the various components of Double-Take Share using the Double-Take Share Director, the graphical modeling tool, and Double-Take Share monitoring and control tools. Students will use the Director software to set up and modify replication environments. Double-Take Share monitoring and control tools are used to start or stop replication processes and manage and monitor data movement model.

The entire training course is held in a highly interactive classroom with the instructor explaining and demonstrating all of Vision Double-Take Share’s software functionality in an actual production environment. The interactivity involves a Windows 2000 Professional platform with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and DB2/400. The training guide each student receives ensures complete coverage of all areas during the course and is designed to serve as a valuable reference later on the job.

Implementing Double-Take Availability for Windows

Location: A Vision Solutions Training Center or public training venue

Length: Three Days

This course focuses on Double-Take Availability for Windows and includes an overview of Double-Take Move and Double-Take DR.

This class provides you with the baseline skills for installing, configuring, and managing Double-Take Availability for Windows v7.1 in your environment. You will practice using key features including Double-Take orphan file control, bandwidth limiting, compression, etc. You will perform failovers in a test environment. You will also learn how to monitor and troubleshoot Double-Take Availability solutions.

This class includes hands-on labs for learning how to configure Double-Take Availability Full Server protection, Double-Take Availability for Application protection, and the Full server to ESX protection.

Class Prerequisite: This class is designed for system engineers. You are most likely to have success in this class if you possess the following skills:

  • Have a good knowledge of the Windows® 2008 Server interface and familiarity with its terminology including connecting to network shares, add or connect to network shares/drives, navigate the Windows operating system without instruction and manage NICs.
  • Have a good knowledge of Shadow Copy (VSS)
  • Have experience with graphical user administration tools on a network.
  • Have hands-on experience with computer hardware and software.
  • Have installed Windows 2008 Server© and service packs.
  • Use the Windows Event Viewer to troubleshoot system issues.

Double-Take® Move Implementation

This class provides you with the baseline skills for installing, configuring, and managing Double-Take Move v7.1 in your environment. You will learn how to setup migration jobs from the Double-Take console and perform full server migrations in a test environment. You will also learn how to monitor and troubleshoot Double-Take Move solutions.
